THALASSA

The primordial goddess of the sea, Thalassa is a protean deity – a giver of bounties and a bringer of doom. Thick floats of seaweed wrap across her body to form her clothes; her hair, grey-green sea-froth, cascades down her head and neck as tumbling, breaking waves. She is a creature to be admired (but never trusted), the eternal spirit of the sea who can drag any sailor into the depths as she commands. In an aqueous formation of layered color, Thalassa is both abundance and ambiguity, a mercurial invocation of the sea’s temperamental beauty.
