The goddess Athena was unerring in pursuing her desires. Known as the judicious patron of wisdom and weaving, warriors and artisans looked to her to forge a path for them to follow. She was Zeus’ favorite daughter, borne from his head, and bestowed with the gift of insight because of it. Both strategic and tactical, she was a master of her crafts and offered guidance to others on theirs. Named with respect to the goddess, Athena’s structure is exemplary of one of the three major types of weaving. A beautiful rendering of a classic twill pattern, Athena’s elegant and precise form is a fitting homage to the goddess for which it is named.
