KAYA

KAYA

In a thoroughly artisanal process, Kaya — the Turkish word for stone, or rock — earns its tooth and drape in part from the volcanic rocks it is tumbled with. Washed in small batches, it relaxes as it turns — an inevitable defeat against the rough pumice stones, emerging much softer and more forgiving than before. Kaya's selvedges are reinforced during weaving, ensuring that no matter how rugged the process may be, it will still maintain its structure and integrity.
