KODAMA

The forests of Japanese folklore are inhabited by Kodama – spirits that make their home in trees, only venturing out in the form of glowing light. The trees where they dwell are to be respected and preserved, and are often tied with ceremonial rope that marks them as sacred sites. Printed by hand, Kodama’s tessellated trees are animated by knowing eyes – a reverberation of the supernatural within the natural world.
