NAWA
On the lonesome shores of Japan’s Iso bay, two boulders are tethered with Nawa – ropes – to symbolize a lovers’ bond. In Shinto tradition, the rocks represent a union of contrasts joined by human touch. Woven with thick cording in a chevron formation, Nawa suggests the peaks of the stones reaching towards the heavens, the sacred ropes guiding a pathway to the sky.
