Named for the sacred tree, Sycomorus is a weaving of twining branches and sweet fruits in bloom, ready to fall. Figs hang heavy from gnarled wood, ripe and splitting in a riot of color, revealing just as much beauty inside as out. Waxy leaves bow under the weight of creeping caterpillars, gnawing their way from one stem to the next on an exploratory journey. Adapted from an unfinished gouache painting of a flowering tree, Sycomorus is imagined here as complete. Its dense tapestry construction is a dendrological work of art, capturing the magic of the woods and a peek into its secrets.
