Before the harvest comes the sowing – the building of plots, the tilling of soil, the careful division of one large space into smaller fractions, each with its own unique promise. Orto evokes a freshly-sown vegetable garden, viewed from above, with beds divided by graphic stripes each holding nine neatly-arranged seeds. From afar, they seem to be an identical iteration of the same pattern; up close, minute differences begin to emerge, harbingers of the colorful array to come.
