DELUGE

Endless rains hail down upon the earth as a sign of divine retribution in The Great Flood narrative. It is an ancient story woven throughout many cultures as a great equalizer or act of balance, and in turn, a path toward rebirth. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the god Enlil summons destructive waters that consume the world; centuries after, the Deluge of Deucalion tells of Zeus punishing humankind for nine days and nights to correct its descent into corruption and disobedience. Like these epic waters, Deluge envelopes all that it touches, its draped form cascading, flowing, and full.
