In mythology, the spirit of trees and love are bound together. Baucis and Philemon were transformed into an entwined oak and linden, rewarded by the Gods with an ongoing embrace. In Madagascar, legend tells of Les Baobabs Amoureux – two magnificent, still living, baobab trees. Standing witness to the trials of human love, as their trunks and roots became entangled, the trees have now also come to represent love’s endurance. The baobabs’ story still resounds, speaking to our need for connection – branches commingling, enfolded together forever, coming undone only to find one another again.
